Thomas Phelan Memorial Scholarship Fundraiser

$100.00
sold out

On Saturday June 19th 2021, we will be gathering at the Pearl River Saloon to raise funds for the Thomas Phelan Scholarship fund. The event will feature a DJ, Dinner, as well as an open bar. The Thomas Phelan Scholarship is awarded to parishioners of St Michaels Roman Catholic Church in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Each year this scholarship is awarded to young parishioners are striving to follow the example of Marine Pilot and New York City Fire Fighter Thomas Phelan. On 9/11/01, Pilot Phelan worked for Statue of Liberty ferry & took part in the largest evacuation in NYC history, as he helped evacuate lower Manhattan & rescue many people to the other side of the river. He brought supplies, rescue workers & was a huge part of the operation. He went on to join the FDNY assigned to Engine 55 then eventually making his way back to the waterways into Marine 9. He passed away in 2018 but the example that he set continues to live on through his legacy. The scholarship is aimed at continuing young parishioners education as they embark to serve a particular career or vocation. Please join us to celebrate Thomas’ legacy and his commitment to giving back to the community!
